Tobin James Jr is an African -American singer, songwriter and musician from Falls who specialises in Funk, R&B and Alternative rock Music. Drawing inspiration from the stylings of Prince, Rick James, Micheal Jackson, George Clinton among others, his music is characterised by infectious guitar rhythms and riffing , flamboyant keyboard/synthesiser, and most notably his unique voice and range. He has written, recorded and released a number of singles, and 1 studio album “Bops Per Minute” available on all major platforms.
The music is Funky and with a little edge to it, with lyrics both provocative and progressive, and bring themes of Social Justice, Modern Romance, gender and racial ambiguity, and spirituality to the musical landscape.
Typically performing with a 4-8 piece band featuring Rhythm and lead guitar, Pianos and Synths, bass, drums, percussion, multi vocal pieces, and the occasional horn & string sections, Tobin James and his band work intently to provide quality and theatrical entertainment for any event. Citing their main influences as legendary acts such as Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones, the band carries on the tradition of playing original rock n’ roll music in the stylings of the quintessential 70’s/80’s dirty, bluesy, big rock sound.
