About the event

Milo in the Doldrums, Grady, Flowerbomb, and SmoothAF want to help those in our local community fighting hunger and poverty. We have created a canned food drive, partnering with Food For Others (Fairfax, VA), to allow patrons to donate two canned goods and receive a maximum of $2 off their ticket price. Please donate what you can to help those in need. Thank you so much!

Milo in the Doldrums

Milo in the Doldrums is a sonic collage of 90’s nostalgia coupled with modern indie-rock sentimentality. With a string of EPs in tow (Milo in the Doldrums, Richards Glasses, Built For No One), Milo in the Doldrums is currently working with D.C. producer Ben Green (Ivakota RecordingFairweather) on their debut LP.

Grady

Grady is a power-pop trio from Virginia made up of Emily Yaremchuk, Samantha Collings, and Will Salzmann. Combining elements of punk, new wave, and pop, they have been compared to acts such as Liz Phair, Veruca Salt, and Hole. Sounds like: the band that would play the Homecoming dance in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Flowerbomb

Flowerbomb is a Washington DC-based bubblegrunge band founded by Rachel Kline, alongside producer and drummer Dan ABH. Combining saturated guitars, ornate rhythms, and delicately raw lyrics, Flowerbomb creates a soundscape for nostalgia and heavy feelings accompanied by lush layers and dynamic sounds.

Flowerbomb combines elements of alternative, 90’s indie rock, shoegaze, punk, and emo to create its signature bubblegrunge sound. Their current lineup consists of Rachel Kline on Vocals & Guitars, Dan ABH on Drums and Production, Connor White on Guitars, and Abby Rasheed on Bass Guitar.

Smooth AF

Smooth As Funk got together in 2016 and is based out of Vienna, VA. The band, originally starting as Jammin Java’s house band, then began playing for regularly programmed shows and then added in a rotation of shows for several charities, corporate events, and now private and public events! Over the years, Smooth AF has grown to become a merging of funk, blues, and rock – with a distinct flare driven by neo-soul influence.

The band is a compilation of some of the DMV’s favorite artists and is fronted by Jammin Java & Union Stage’s very own Lana Mahmoud. This show’s rotation includes Ben Caprio (Bluewreck), Sam Whetzel (Bluewreck), Will Berger (Pleasure Train), and Lindsey Cook on keys. You are bound to recognize many of their faces – you’ve seen them on stages all over DMV!

This show is at Jammin Java
