Marsha and The Positrons
Marsha and The Positrons
Marsha and the Positrons are known for shows that are a ton of family-friendly fun! Both playful and educational, they are entertaining for adults as well as kids. Marsha’s debut solo album, Gravity Vacation [], has catchy original songs about science & how the world works, called “a unique blend of science and positive social messages encompassed within toe tapping melodies and sing-along worthy lyrics” by the School Library Journal. According to the Baltimore Fishbowl, "...talented/celebrated/scientifically astute yet adorably warm and amusing...Goodman-Wood has a reputation for getting kids up and dancing. I can attest: Parents will want to dance along with their grooving brood!"

The show’s been a Washington Post Going Out Guide Editor’s Pick. It gets audiences singing along and dancing to songs that will inspire curiosity about science. The group also plays kid-appropriate pop covers, parodies, and traditional favorites. Their goal is to send families home with smiles on their faces and plant the seeds for interesting conversations. The Kids Can Groove music blog calls lead singer, songwriter and guitar player, Marsha Goodman-Wood, ”…a ninja in disguise. She is a DC-based singer/songwriter who makes music for clever kids with sharp imaginations and active minds brimming with curiosity…As a songwriter, Marsha brings her educational background and combines it with her experience as a music and drama teacher as well as her role as a mom of three."

Marsha and the Positrons have performed at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, the Long Island Children’s Museum, and Baltimore’s Port Discovery Children’s Museum, as well as libraries, schools, theaters, concert series, festivals, fairs and more all over the region. Parenting blog We’ll Eat You Up, We Love You So says, “Goodman-Wood was no ordinary children's singer...She was very, very good. Her clear voice reminded me of Carole King, as did her very curly hair. Her stage presence was lively without being grating, a highly delicate balance for a children's performer.”

Marsha and the Positrons feature skilled and smooth bass player Wardell Howell; gifted and instinctive djembe drummer and vocalist, Kristen Arant; and wonderful multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Ayanna Gallant. Whether playing as a duo, trio, or full band, Marsha and the Positrons always bring their positive energy and playfulness to the stage!
