Anti-Social Club
Anti-Social Club
Anti-Social Club is a DC-area alternative rock band featuring veteran local musicians Greg Guevara on guitar and vocals, Mike Murphy on bass, and Peter Dowsett on keyboards and programming.

Influenced by such bands as The Cure, Pink Floyd, The Church, Depeche Mode, and Nine Inch Nails (among many others), Anti-Social Club’s music features a sometimes brooding, sometimes soaring, and often infectious blend of compelling melodies and hooks, all swirling rhythmically around a core of poignant lyrics and heartfelt vocals.

First formed in 2001, the band is best known for its debut album Otherwise Bleak eXistence, released in 2008 and available from all the major online vendors via streaming, digital download, and CD.

After a nearly 10-year hiatus, in 2017 the band was inspired to reunite and complete work on a second album, Dark before the Light, which will be officially released at this show. While the new material bears hallmarks of the original A-SC sound, it also represents an evolution of sorts, drawing on a decade’s worth of additional musical ideas and life experiences to create an entirely different and freshly evocative soundscape.
Derd Berner
Derd Berner
Jumping onto the scene with strong showings at Jammin Java opening for The Fritz & Magic Beans, Derd Berner is proving they deserve your attention. They have a unique way of meshing genres that you must hear for yourself. Songs that start out folky, then crash into calypso, or a funk groove that drives into gospel; truly an original sound all to their own. Their motto of "You don't know what you're going to get, but you are going to get it all" rings true.
Comprised of veterans David Barker (guitar, keys) Simon Ley (drums) and David Nicholas (guitar) Spectrums brings a new instrumental sound to DC with a blend of chiming post-punk guitars, krautrock synths and northern soul beats.

Taking inspiration from the Chicago school of post-rock, Tangerine Dream, and John Carpenter's soundtracks, the trio adopts a keyboardist's mindset with guitars firmly in hand.
