Lexie Hayden
Lexie Hayden
I always hesitate to take the interstate, but I always do.” For Lexie Hayden, an inspired, young, Virginia-bred singer/songwriter, that interstate has always pointed to Nashville, Tennessee. Ahead of the release of her 2017 EP "The Drive", fittingly written and recorded in the heart of Music City, Hayden is thankful for the journey that led her there. “This record has been a long time coming, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with the world.” Having co-written all 5 songs, The Drive not only marks a statement in Hayden’s growth as a singer and a writer, but a realization of her identify as an artist in the ever changing landscape of country music.

Drawing inspiration from all corners of country music, ranging from royalty like Dolly Parton and The Dixie Chicks, to younger trailblazers such as Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves and Brothers Osborne, Hayden has always sought to tap one particular attribute that these influences embody to her: honesty. And more than anything, honesty is what has her so excited for The Drive. “These songs are really ME - who I am as an artist, and who I am as a person.”

Coming up in Northern Virginia, Hayden cultivated a strong local following through performing live, recording singles, and utilizing her YouTube channel. The goal was simple - to share her music with the world around her. In the summer of 2014, she took an internship at the nationally syndicated Bobby Bones Show in Nashville, which exposed her to a whole new side of the music she loves. She had the opportunity to perform on air many times during her internship, gaining confidence and followers through the help of the show. “I fell in love with Nashville, and I knew pretty early on that I’d end up here.” Hayden was chosen to perform her single When I’m With You as the keynote performance for the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, an impressive feat for such a newly established artist. While she is thrilled to release this new record, she is also mindful of the road ahead. “In a lot of ways, this is just beginning,” she says, “I can’t wait for what’s to come.
