Adrianne + Laura Tsaggaris

Award winning LA-based singer-songwriter… a voice that is uniquely beautiful and moving and songs that go straight for the truth and will have you humming them in your head for days…

“Adrianne is a ball of emotion, intensity, and 'tude.” —Neil Fagan, Performing Songwriter

“Adrianne has piercing eyes to match the sharp allure of her tunes.” —Steve Morse, Boston Herald

“Adrianne is the kind of female rocker with a sound that is truly all her own.“ —DiscoveringArtists.com

“…the world better be prepared for Adrianne, because ready or not, here she comes. Her intensely personal lyrics, innovative open tunings, and riveting performance style have critics and industry leaders fairly gushing over her prodigious creative gifts.” —SESAC, Inc.

The Pittsburgh native now calls Washington, DC home and is working in support of her first full-length independent recording, "Proof." The record was a long journey in the making that ultimately landed her in a small studio in Raleigh, North Carolina. Several five-hour long drives and full days in the studio later, the result is all the proof one needs to see that Tsaggaris is a powerfully gifted emerging artist.

Independently touring with her acoustic guitar and characteristically intimate solo show, Laura Tsaggaris continues to solidify her place within the performance community. DC Pulse writes, ““With her contemporary and accessible sound you could make the obvious connections to the likes of Aimee Mann, Tracy Chapman, and Ani Difranco. But make no mistake, this woman has a voice that proves she is an experience all her own.” Armed with a new backing band for select shows, Tsaggaris promises to continue to grow and bring her brand of rock to new heights.

Tyrone Wells (full band!) + Jason Reeves (full band!)

Growing up a skinny preacher's kid in Spokane, Washington, Tyrone Wells was discouraged from listening to pop music and only exposed to gospel. Little did he know a decade later, the roots of soul would become a key element of his passionate, irresistible and utterly unique songs. Combining pop, soul, and rock, Tyrone sings about true love, war and heartbreak with equal power and sincerity, coming across as a voice for a generation that’s both idealistic and confused.

When a teenage Jason Reeves encountered the works of Bob Dylan and James Taylor, it set off a chain of events. First he began working on his own songwriting, combining the classic singer/songwriter style with more modern influences like Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens. He then dropped out of college and moved from his native Iowa, eventually landing in California. The second person he met upon arrival was future pop star Colbie Caillat.

The two hit it off immediately and it didn't take long for their friendship to turn into a songwriting partnership, one that would create the foundation for Caillat's hit album Coco. The songs that weren't reserved for Coco ended up on Reeves' EP Hearts Are Magnets, which appeared in 2006 on the Dancing Squirrel label. The full-length The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache followed in 2007. David Jeffries, All Music Guide

Brave + Todesbonden

Brave is a progressive rock/metal band with female vocals and violins. The members are Michelle Loose (vocals, keys), Scott Loose (guitars), Trevor Schrotz (drums), Ben Kelly (bass), Suvo Sur (violin, keys) and Matt Kozar (guitars).

The roots of Brave began in 1997 when brother and sister duo Scott and Michelle Loose began writing diverse, acoustic-based, dark progressive music with their childhood friend and drummer, Trevor Schrotz. The original band was called Arise From Thorns (AFT), and the trio wrote and recorded 2 CDs with world-wide distribution and played numerous shows around their hometown of Dale City, VA, a suburb of Washington, DC. After several lineup changes, the music of AFT morphed into a much heavier sound while retaining the atmospheric and diverse qualities of AFT. With this evolution in style came a change in name, and in 2000, Brave was born.

Todesbonden, founded by Laurie Ann Haus (Autumn Tears) is a Celtic, World, and Classical influenced hard rock/metal band that takes the listener on a musical journey of fantasy, yearning, and a time long ago.

Using a mix of catchy trance-inducing melodies, epic keys, soaring violins, powerful Balkan, Operatic, Celtic, Rock, and Middle Eastern lead female vocals, and crushing guitars, Todesbonden creates a sound to touch the inner heart and soul of every listener.

Saturday October 18 pop/rock $10 advance/ $12 at the door - Doors open at 9:30pm

Chris Merritt (full band!) + Kingsfoil

"Chris never shook hands with a melody that wasn't beautiful. His fingers dance on the keys, a melodic pas de deux, with fantastic results." -Lines Through Lines

Born and raised in the foothills of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, Chris Merritt began experimenting with songwriting at age 7. Support and encouragement from family, friends, and even an influential babysitter helped Chris have the confidence to further pursue his passion for composition. Piano happened to be the first available means for Chris' creative expression and his talent and technical ability were quickly evident on the instrument. Chris, however, was equally intrigued by percussion, guitar, saxophone, and his own voice. He toyed with as many sounds as were available to him and constantly searched for more sonic possibilities.

Sunday October 19 rock $10 - 8pm show

Bandazian

"These guys are natural born radio-ready! Bandazian is one of those bands that's got surface and depth appeal...hooks that would grab a casual radio listener's ear and musicianship that would grab any music lover's heart...They have that ever-elusive 'what it takes' quality that you just can't fake...this one's genuine...and they are only just beginning..." - Annalisa-Midday Host, KFOG radio San Francisco

“Bandazian’s brand of hard pop harkens back to the early days of U2, when Bono was more about making music than making news. Bandazian isn’t afraid to rock hard, but they’re smart enough not to drown out their well-crafted tunes. Even when they have the volume turned up, Bandazian’s music remains tuneful, hummable, and memorable.” - Kim Clark, WNCW radio

Monday October 20 fingerstyle guitar $15 - 7:30pm show

Peppino D'Agostino + Jeff Severson

Peppino D'Agostino is a Renaissance man. This is not just because he was born in Italy. Everything about the longtime California resident and his art -- virtuoso acoustic guitarist, composer, singer, teacher and all-around entertainer -- is rooted in his heritage. It's fitting then that his new CD is titled Made in Italy. It's his first CD release since 2005's Bayshore Road, a collaboration with longtime friend, electric guitarist Stef Burns.

"This CD is like a little portrait of Italy," said D'Agostino. "It's my thoughts and personal impressions of my native country. This music is for people who really want to sit down and listen."

D'Agostino has had a long and distinguished career filled with highlights. His most recent accolade came from Guitar Player magazine when he was voted BEST ACOUSTIC GUITARIST by its readers in the Reader's Choice Awards in May 2007.

Made in Italy continues D'Agostino's 2007 hot streak. It's been in the making for two years, and it's a CD that's very close to his heart, especially because half of its 16 songs feature his singing. D'Agostino has included a vocal song on his CDs in the past, but Made in Italy truly opens the door to a future of singing as one more color on his musical palette.

Tuesday October 21 folk rock/acoustic $14 - 8pm

Tom McRae + Steve Reynolds

Tom McRae has released four albums since 2000. His eponymous debut was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, as well as Q Award and A Brit. The Follow up, "Just Like Blood" was similarly critically well received. For "All Maps Welcome" Tom relocated to L.A and made a record in an Italian Villa in the hills of Silverlake. It was whilst living in L.A Tom started playing the Hotel Cafe venue in Hollywood. The Artists of the Hotel Cafe have toured the states for 3 years now, in 2006 Tom brought his friends to the UK and a new European tour is planned for Spring 2008. His fourth record "king of Cards" was released on V2, shortly before the label was swallowed by Universal.

Tom's music has featured in numerous television shows , including Six Feet Under, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, CSI and many others.

Tom divides his time between New York and London, when not on tour.

"Steve Reynolds is a name we've been hearing a bit lately. The talented guitar player/songwriter hails from Southern California (Canada, originally) and has unearthed a heavy amount of mellow gold on his new album The Carnival Papers. "Save Your Best" shows off his stellar, finger-picking style and layers that with one of his most emotional, whispering melodies." - iTunes

Friday October 24 acoustic/pop/folk $20 - 7:30pm show

Ellis Paul

A singer songwriter is only as good as the times he reflects. In times like these, when so many nuts are running the show, it's comforting to know that Ellis Paul is actually holding our sanity on his own stage! Wise, tender, brilliant and biting, Ellis is one of our best human compasses, marking in melodies and poems where we've been and where we might go if we so choose to. Personally Ellis, I'm goin' where you're goin'! --Nora Guthrie (Woody Guthrie's daughter) Ellis Paul is one of the leading voices in American songwriting. He was a principle leader in the wave of singer/songwriters that emerged from the Boston folk scene, creating a movement that revitalized the national acoustic circuit with an urban, literate, folk pop style that helped renew interest in the genre in the 1990's. His charismatic, personally authentic performance style has influenced a generation of artists away from the artifice of pop, and closer towards the realness of folk. Though he remains among the most pop-friendly of today's singer-songwriters - his songs regularly appear in hit movie and TV soundtracks - he has bridged the gulf between the modern folk sound and the populist traditions of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger more successfully than perhaps any of his songwriting peers.

With his most recent release, Available Light (2006), Porter has dug in and built on his strengths as a guitarist, singer and songwriter, extending the range and scope of his vision.
