Tuesday February 3 acoustic $12 - 8pm show
Over the past three years Mick Lynch and Kevin May of pop/folk act The
Guggenheim Grotto have touched U.S. and U.K. audiences in a way the
duo couldn't have imagined. From setting out as Dublin songwriter
circuit regulars to building a devoted cult following in the U.S. with
warm embraces from media and competitive iTunes charting, the band has
captivated audiences and tastemakers on both sides of the pond with
its mix of poetic, often literature-inspired lyrics set to timeless,
soaring pop melodies.
TGG's sophomore record, Happy The Man, made its digital debut at No. 1
on the U.S. iTunes Folk Chart in October 2008. It boasts the band's
same signature mix of timeless, multi-instrumental pop/folk, but
offers a greater maturity and a higher sense of self-consciousness
while delving into more sampling and electronic techniques. The album
hits stores January 27, 2009 - supported by a national tour with a
stop here at Jammin' Java!

*For the singer/songwriter that The Chicago Tribune describes as "a
Southern girl thumping a doghouse bass bigger than she is and singing
in a woozy, whispery voice that casts an intoxicating spell," Anchors
& Anvils (Amy Lavere's most recent release) refuses to be weighed down
by easy expectations.
*Though it may be Amy's bass - which is indeed bigger than she is -
that many will first notice, it is her voice - simultaneously coy and
seductive, able to communicate hurt, strength or even menace in a
single breathy bound - that remains unforgettable.
*Add to this a nascent acting career that began with her cameo as
Rockabilly queen Wanda Jackson in WALK THE LINE and now includes a
featured role in fan and fellow Memphian Craig Brewer's BLACK SNAKE
MOAN, and you find a woman who refutes any attempt at demure
restraint.

With Florida based LIQUID MUSIC GROUP's upcoming release of the new
Dan Reed CD "Coming up for Air", Dan presents a group of songs that
mirror this life journey. With songs composed from Hong Kong to New
Dehli, Jerusalem to London, he has come full circle to do what he has
always done best- create, and most importantly... to sing to all who
will listen. "What I have learned most on this path is that music
brings people together and in a world of war, corruption, disease, and
environmental destruction... 'together' is a good direction. I am
constantly inspired and hopeful for the future of music. It is an
amazing playground to feel connected inside and out. This creative
journey has been a very wild and harrowing ride, but the view has been
worth the price of admission."

Emerging from a long tradition of gypsy circus troubadours come the
solar-powered travelers: carriers of a new musical light; Taarka. This

of David Tiller, Enion Pelta-Tiller, Daniel Plane, Troy Robey, and
Dale Largent - a virtuosic cadre of performers who have roamed the
freeways and backroads of the new and old acoustic caravan trail in
search of a revolutionary ancient sound for modern times. While the
four musicians have individually been spreading song and tune over the
aural superhighway since the last century, their collaborative
intersection marks a new era of Taarkan tunesmithing. TAARKA is set to
release their fourth album, featuring the fantastic new line-up, a
guest appearance by superstar fiddler Casey Driessen, and a collection
of beautifully written and arranged songs and original instrumentals
swimming the gamut of indie-gypsy chamber folk.

For THE VON BONDIES, the most important reason to make music isn't a
complicated one. "We're here to entertain people so they forget that
they have a 9 to 5 job to go to in the morning," says Jason
Stollsteimer, the Michigan-based band's singer-songwriter-guitarist.
"We love what we do or else we wouldn't do it; it's for us and the
fans."
With the February 2009 release of Love, Hate and Then There's You, the
Von Bondies' third studio album and their debut for Majordomo Records
(a division of Shout! Factory), those fans will experience a band
that's come a long way since 2004's smash album Pawn Shoppe Heart. Now
in their ninth year together, Stollsteimer and drummer Don Blum, the
Von Bondies' other founding member, have taken their music to new
places while holding on to the core values they've always exhibited.

Nico Vega represents a modern day saint. A warrior that has led us to
a more fulfilling, lighter way of being. She represents people and
unity. She fights for all of us and teaches us to fight for each
other. She is an idea that has evolved into a message and she fuels us
in our bellies. She is the person we are all capable of being, but she
holds the bar high above our head so that we must reach to be better
human beings.

Eaglesmith boasts an impact that far better known musical acts can

Wednesday February 25 legendary keyboardist from FACES $17 advance/ $20 at the door - 7:30pm show
Ian McLagan is a genuine, dyed-in-the-wool rock'n'roller. In fact, his
smiling visage — he was, after all, a member of the Small Faces and
the Faces — would serve as an ideal illustration in the proverbial
Dictionary of What Is Truly Cool.
The man known to his many mates and even more fans and admirers as
'Mac' is the sort who shrugs off such puffery. And then he just
carries on creating splendid and genuine rock'n'roll with his Bump
Band as well as musically aid and abet a marquee line-up of truly blue
ribbon talent that he has toured and recorded with: The Rolling
Stones, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Bragg and
Patty Griffin, to name some but hardly all of the notables that
McLagan has worked with over his four-plus decade career.

"Ultimately, these songs are about spirituality and trying to find
your place in the world," Griffin House says of Flying Upside Down
(his most recent release from Nettwerk), an album that dramatically
marks the 27-year-old Ohioan's coming of age as an artist of
formidable skills. "Specifically, it's the continuing story of what's
happening in my life, following the realization that the more specific
I am about my own life and things that have happened to me, the more
people will feel it universally."

Audiences seem to agree. These ladies have a lot of fun on stage, and
it's contagious. Red Molly consistently brings concert-goers to their
feet with stunning three-part harmonies, crisp musicianship, and a
warm, engaging stage presence.

have spent a lifetime making music together as the folk/rock duo Aztec
Two-Step. Their first album, along with their subsequent albums for
